Introduction

Welcome to the Research Assignment Toolkit from the UNCG University Libraries.  This guide is intended to help faculty develop successful research assignments so that our students learn to identify appropriate information resources and use them ethically.  To develop this guide we've drawn from a large research study, Project Information Literacy (PIL), conducted by the Information School at the University of Washington.  The study's goal is "to understand how early adults conceptualize and operationalize research in the digital age."  PIL also conducted a study on faculty research assignments which we've used to develop this guide.

Acknowledgements

In addition to PIL we thank Temple University for allowing us to adapt  their 10 Ways to Improve Student Research guide and Maricopa Community College District (Arizona) for their Research Assignment Handouts:Essential Elements to Provote Student Success Workshop.
